Meenu Gaur and Farjad Nabi’s upcoming film, 7 Din Mohabbat In, that stars Mahira Khan and Sheheryar Munawar in lead roles, is scheduled to release on Eid ul Fitr this year. The film’s posters and teasers came out last month and garnered a somewhat mixed response. The trailer, which released this week, is just as confusing. It looks more like a bizarre genre of cinema combining a children’s entertainment television show with hints of the supernatural and paranormal activity. It’s the kind of slapstick comedy that may have mass appeal (as did films like Wrong No) but may not go down well critically.
The trailer opens with Jawed Sheikh as a ghost, Dwarka Prasad from Delhi (why, you may want to ask?) giving some life advice to Tipu, essayed by Sheheryar Munawar. He tells him that if a girl falls in love with him in seven days, he will turn into a macho man, as opposed to the kind of loser he is. This leads to Tipu’s search for true love, during which he comes across multiple women, played by Mira Sethi, Amna Ilyas and the one he falls for, Neeli (Mahira Khan). However, there is a twist in his story, which will probably untangle in the film.
The film looks to offer the public some fun-loving romantic comedy, some ghosts, djinns, item numbers and songs, colour and then some mystery and magic. It could be magic and it could just as well be an absolute mess. We’ll find out when we watch it!
