The versatile Zahid Ahmed is known for playing layered characters and that too with brilliance and finesse. In a rather short career span in television, the actor has played a diverse set of roles in popular productions such as Alvida, Sangat, Besharam and the most recent Daldal that earned him much acclaim. Currently essaying the protagonist in Pukar, Zahid is all set to offer another unique character to fans in his upcoming play, Visaal.
“It is a very unique and interesting story, something that is hardly seen on our television screens,” Zahid told Instep in an exclusive conversation. “It follows the story of my character Akku, aka Akram, who is a trickster and deceives people in disguise. It is a very colourful character who considers himself a hero. There are no familial disputes, rona dhona or saas bahu issues in it; it is a complete family entertainer and carries an important lesson at the end.”
The actor also revealed that Visaal has a unique love angle as well and stars Hania Amir opposite him. Aside from Zahid and Hania, the upcoming play also features Firdous Jamal, Saboor Aly and newbie Waleed Zaidi in important roles.
Directed by Ali Hassan and produced under the banner of Big Bang Entertainment, the play is written by Hashim Nadeem of Khuda Aur Mohabbat fame and will go on air later this month. –Buraq Shabbir
