Fawad Khan is undoubtedly one of Pakistan’s most popular actors and he is most definitely one of the country’s biggest entertainment brands. Ever since Fawad signed up for the much anticipated Maula Jutt, he decided to stay out of the limelight.
Even his physical transformation for the film was kept somewhat under wraps and was kept out of the public eye for a long time.
However, we saw him in a number of commercials and also he was one of the celebrity judges on Pepsi Battle of the Bands.
Then some rumours started doing the rounds that Fawad Khan had signed up for a five episode Netflix series.
The story, which was first reported by Indian publication Deccan Chronicle, stated that the actor has “zeroed in on a family drama” that will be the theme of the said web series. But the actor neither confirmed nor denied this information.
With the third edition of the Pakistan Super League (PSL) kicking off in Dubai, Fawad Khan emerged in the spotlight; he was there to support his team Islamabad United - one of the six teams playing in HBL-PSL this year. And it was at the PSL opening ceremony in Dubai that the actor denied all rumours of signing up for a five episode web series.
“No I have not, not as yet,” Fawad confirmed, in a recent interview. “I think the market for the online streaming community and online services is opening up. We do intend to get into web series but I haven’t gotten into one yet. I have not signed anything yet. When it happens officially I’ll definitely let you know.”
As far as his upcoming film is concerned, the actor on the sidelines of a PSL match revealed that Maula Jutt is presently in the post production and editing phase and a few days of shooting are still left and only after that he will talk about other future projects.
Maula Jutt is a reboot of the iconic original film that released in 1979. Directed by Bilal Lashari, the film has an ensemble cast that includes the likes of Fawad Khan, Hamza Ali Abbasi, Mahira Khan, Humaima Malick and Gohar Rasheed in pivotal roles.
The release date for the film has not been finalized yet.
Like all of his fans, we too are eagerly awaiting Fawad Khan’s return to the silver screen.
