The year 2017 proved to be a successful one for Saba Qamar, who is certainly one of the most prominent actors we have in the entertainment industry today. She made her big screen debut in Bollywood with Hindi Medium that won big at the recently held FilmFare awards and earned her a nomination in the Best Actress category. She was also the protagonist in recently concluded controversial drama serial Baaghi (inspired from the life of social media sensation Qandeel Baloch) that won three trophies including Best Actress award for Saba at the Lux Style Awards 2018.
Moving on to her upcoming projects, Saba is gearing up for a TV play called Badshah Begum, writer of the project Saji Gul confirmed to us on the flight to LSA 2018.
“Saba will be playing the titular character in Badshah Begum,” he shared with Instep. “It’s a story of the Mughal era and will feature some historical events that took place in that time. Some of the issues the play will highlight include exploitation of women and sibling rivalry among others.”
Rafay Rashdi is producing the upcoming play while Farooq Rind may take up direction duties for the project. While Saba will be seen as Badshah Begum, rest of the cast is yet to be finalized.
Coming back to the writer, Saji Gul is known for plays like Sannata, Iltija and the most recent O’Rangreza that features Sajal Aly, Noman Ijaz and Bilal Abbas Khan and will conclude tonight.
