We wouldn’t recommend you hold your breath.

News rolled in late last evening that Tiger Zinda Hai, featuring Salman Khan and Katrina Kaif as spies from both sides of the border, has not been given an NOC (No Objection Certificate). In other words, it has been banned.

Flashback: In 2012, Pakistan’s Censor Board banned Ek Tha Tiger mainly because the lead characters of the movie i.e. Salman Khan and Katrina Kaif played the roles of Indian and Pakistani intelligence agents respectively. Pakistan’s Board of Film Certification claimed that the movie had some scenes that were against Pakistan.

Fast forward to 2017 and the much awaited trailer launch of Tiger Zinda Hai, featuring the same cast playing the same roles, created much hype, with people wondering where they could be introduced to such glamorous spies. However, the fantasy was too good to be true as the CBFC (Central Board of Film Certification) has objected to its release in the country.

Reportedly the chairman of the Central Board of Film Censor (CBFC) Mobasher Hasan has said, “Tiger Zinda Hai has been refused the NOC, citing the same reason as the first installment of the franchise: The image of Pakistan and its law enforcement agencies has been compromised.”

We noticed that some Pakistani celebs also took to Twitter to express their views. While Imran Abbas praised the trailer with the hopes of watching it in the cinema, Shaan Shahid objected, “Why is Katrina playing a spy from Pakistan? The writer needs to do his homework. Stop fooling people in the name of cinema, grow up guys.”The movie, directed by Ali Abbas Zafar, is all set to release on December 22, 2017 but it looks like this spy thriller will not make it across the border into Pakistan.
