The recent past has seen a number of Pakistani films being screened at various international film festivals. Some of the names include Sanam Saeed-starrer Rahm, Mehreen Jabbar’s Lala Begum and Dobara Phir Se among others. The latest addition to the list is Sabiha Sumar’s Azmaish, made in collaboration with Indian actor Kalki Koechlin, which is all set to screen at the ongoing BFI London Film Festival.
Films from 60 countries have been selected for screening and Azmaish is the only Pakistani film to make the cut. Starring Koechlin and the director herself, Azmaish is an extraordinary journey of these two courageous women through Pakistan and India. Through the lives of ordinary people, the film explores why people in the two countries are turning towards extremism for answers.
The festival began on October 4 and will run till October 15. Aside from screenings, the London Film Festival also features multiple discussions including a conversation with Jake Gyllenhaal, Guillermo Del Toro and David Fincher among others.
