English actor Matthew Goode, known for his roles in TV serials like The Good Wife and Downton Abbey and in the 2014 ensemble film, The Imitation Game - in which he was joined by fellow English actor Benedict Cumberbatch - is all set to support some fangs.

According to a new report in TVLine, the actor will star opposite Teresa Palmer in A Discovery of Witches, which is being adapted from Deborah Harkness’ best-selling All Souls Trilogy.

TVLine notes: “The story follows Oxford student Diana Bishop (Palmer), a descendant of the witches of Salem who becomes romantically involved with Matthew, a 1,500-year-old vampire.”

Heading into production next month in Wales, the series doesn’t have a home in America just yet but it will have one on Sky1 and Now TV in the UK and Ireland.

While most new shows get the axe, TV serials with vampire plotlines often live longer than most, notwithstanding the irony. Goode’s work is cut out for him since plenty of TV vampires have set a standard and have a cult following. The most acclaimed TV vampire from recent years include Jonathan Rhys Meyers’s Dracula from Dracula, Jack Kesy’s The Master from Strain, James Marsters’s William ‘Spike’ Pratt from Buffy the Vampire Slayer and Angel , David Boreanaz’s Liam/Angel from Buffy the Vampire Slayer and Angel and Ian Somerhalder’s Damon Salvatore from The Vampire Diaries.
