Singer turned actor Bilal Khan made a successful acting debut with recently concluded social drama Sammi that cast him alongside Sania Saeed, Adnan Siddiqui and Mawra Hocane. He received mostly positive reviews from viewers as well as industry insiders for his portrayal of a young, educated village teacher. Khan has been offered several TV projects post Sammi and the artist has finally signed up for his next, titled Khamoshi. Instep caught up with the actor to find out more about his acting projects.
“I play the role of an extremely rich, young businessperson but money doesn’t hold a lot of meaning for him,” Khan gave us some insight to his character, Shahram, in the upcoming serial, Khamoshi. “He is a decent, respectful and generous guy who is morally good.”
Speaking about the story, the actor revealed that it’s a girl-centric narrative. “It tells the story of Arsala (played by Zara Noor Abbas) and her struggles. There’s a love angle to it and the play talks about relationships, not just a love affair but also with parents and siblings.”
After Sammi, Bilal Khan’s next TV project is Khamoshi, a girl-centric story in which he is co-starring alongside Zara Noor Abbas.
The actor also shared that apart from him and Zara Noor Abbas, Khamoshi also stars Iqra Aziz of Choti Si Zindagi fame in a lead role. Directed by Ilyas Kashmiri, the play will go on air sometime in September.
Khan’s character in Khamoshi is in sharp contrast with the one in his debut project in which he played the role of a village boy. For his role in Sammi, the actor bulked up to look the part while for his next, he had to lose a lot of weight.
While Khan’s first focus will always be music, he plans on taking up TV projects if the scripts appeal to him. However he’ll be very selective with them and would like to maintain the parameters he has set for himself as a singer as well as an actor.
