It is not the first time that actor Ahsan Khan will be seen hosting a show as he has taken up hosting duties several times in the past with his special Ramazan transmission, Ramazan Pakistan being the most recent example. Adding to this list, Khan is gearing up to host another TV show but as he tells Instep, it is a game show for children. Titled Boriat Busters, the show has been recorded and is scheduled to go on air later this month.

“It’s a fun show for children less than 13 years of age and will comprise a few episodes,” Khan told Instep. “It’s not like those game shows currently dominating our TV screens in which people are running behind winning a bike or something; I don’t like doing such shows. This one is very different and will have a bunch of activities for kids aimed at testing their skills on various levels. There are two animated characters as well who will be accompanying me while hosting.”

Khan is of the view that there is dearth of content for children on our TV screens and there is a need to have programming that caters to children. “We either have shows catering to adults or specifically for women (morning shows, cooking shows, drama serials) but there isn’t much attention paid to children’s programming, the kind we witnessed while growing up,” he asserted. “What are we feeding our kids with? What are we offering them as entertainment? Sports culture is also diminishing in Pakistan and the content we import from foreign channels is also not relevant to our culture and traditions. How will they learn about their own country, its history and its heroes?”

The actor-host also informed that Boriat Busters will feature a number of celebrity guests who will interact with the kids. Some starry participants include Mawra Hocane, Humayun Saeed, Shoaib Malik, Younus Khan, Sajal Aly and Ayesha Omar.

Aside from the upcoming game show, Khan has other projects lined up as well. He’ll soon be heading to London to star in a Pakistani musical, Ishq that will take place at Sadler’s Wells theatre. His big screen return is imminent as he has finished the dubbing for Chupan Chupai which comes out later this year. Khan will begin dubbing for Rehbra, another upcoming film, once he returns from London. In addition, another cinematic venture is also on the cards that the actor will announce in the coming weeks.
