By now, we all have grown accustomed to Coke Studio and that one grand production that brings all the artists together to sing a tribute for the country. Earlier, we’ve seen the likes of ‘Sohni Dharti’ and ‘Ay Rahay Haq Ke Shaheedon’ being sung by over 20 singers together.
This year, Coke Studio is planning something similar. Grapevine suggests that the hit music show is about to release their own rendition of Pakistan’s National Anthem, ‘Pak Sar Zameen’ which will feature all 40 musicians that will be participating in the show’s upcoming 10th season. Some of those musicians include the likes of Sajjad Ali, Rahat Fateh Ali Khan, Farhan Saeed, Ali Zafar, Shafqat Amanat Ali, Ali Noor, Ali Hamza, Ali Sethi and Quratulain Balouch. While there are numerous producers attached to the show, this particular song has been produced by Strings themselves.
Of course the timing is perfect. As Pakistan’s Independence Day approaches, there is a need for some patriotic fervor in the air. Even though there is much to mourn about, with everything that has happened in Pakistan in the last year, there is also a need to instill some hope and a sense of responsibility to the country. Here’s hoping the Coke Studio rendition is able to achieve this feat.
