Heartbreaking tragedy can strike anyone anytime. And sometimes there are no easy answers, just unsettling questions. That is the only thought that comes to mind when one thinks of Zack Snyder’s decision to step away from DC Comics’s major superhero ensemble fest, Justice League.

Heartbreaking tragedy can strike anyone anytime. And sometimes there are no easy answers, just unsettling questions. That is the only thought that comes to mind when one thinks of Zack Snyder’s decision to step away from DC Comics’s major superhero ensemble fest, Justice League.

The outspoken director, who took over the Batman franchise once Chris Nolan ended his trilogy and is directing the multiple-superhero saga has reportedly stepped down from direction duties in the aftermath of his 20-year-old daughter’s recent death.
Since work on the film had begun earlier, it is likely that the credits will include Zack Snyder as director but Joss Whedon will be credited separately. The death occurred in March after which Snyder went back to work but pulled out earlier this week and the film will now be finished by Joss Whedon, who has helmed major productions like The Avengers and Avengers 2: Age of Ultron in the past.

Snyder, while speaking to The Hollywood Reporter revealed his reasons which included prioritizing family during what is surely a difficult time.  “In my mind, I thought it was a cathartic thing to go back to work, to just bury myself and see if that was the way through it. The demands of this job are pretty intense. It is all-consuming. And in the last two months, I’ve come to the realization … I’ve decided to take a step back from the movie to be with my family, be with my kids, who really need me. They are all having a hard time. I’m having a hard time. In the end, it’s just a movie. It’s a great movie. But it’s just a movie.”

It makes sense that Snyder asked Whedon to finish the film since he is also set to direct Batgirl, which is another DC Comics project much like Justice League.
