It seems that the ban on Pakistani artists working in India was limited to those who managed to make it big in India such as Fawad Khan, Mahira Khan and Ali Zafar. The collaboration between artists from both sides of the border hasn’t been banned completely as there are some new projects that are in works. Earlier this month we reported that VJ-turned-actor Madiha Imam is making her Bollywood debut with Dear Maya alongside Manisha Koirala and now we have another name in the list. The newest addition to the list is Danyal Zafar – younger brother of singer-turned-actor Ali Zafar – who is said to be making his Bollywood debut soon under the banner of Yash Raj Films.
According to reports, Danyal will be starring in a movie directed by Habib Faisal whose last film Daawat-e-Ishq (with Aditya Roy Kapoor and Parineeti Chopra) received mixed reviews. The untitled project will also launch five other newcomers – including foreigners and an actress from North East India – aside from Danyal, who will play the lead role. Based on the story of a music band formed by a group of criminals, the film will go on floors later this year.
Danyal is following in the footsteps of his elder brother Ali Zafar who made his big screen debut in Bollywood with Tere Bin Laden in 2010, and followed it up with several high profile films such London Paris New York, Mere Brother Ki Dulhan, Kill Dill and Dear Zindagi. Time will tell if Danyal can match the skill the senior Zafar is known for.
