It’s no longer unusual to see singers making their acting debut with either TV plays or films. First we had Fawad Khan, Ali Zafar, Farhan Saeed and Gohar Mumtaz, who turned to acting, and now some new-age singers are also taking up acting projects.
While Haroon Shahid from SYMT is all set to make his big screen debut with Shoaib Mansoor’s Verna opposite Mahira Khan, singer-songwriter Bilal Khan has also made his TV debut with Sammi just recently. Joining the list of singers-turned-actors, Rachel Viccaji has also given the nod for an upcoming big screen project, Parwaaz Hai Junoon.
“I have earlier acted in plays and dabbled in direction. I’ve done some musical theatre as well. But yes, this is my screen debut,” she said in an interview.
Speaking about her character in the film, she said, “My character’s name is Ujala. She’s the tough girl in the group. As far as training is concerned, before each spell, we would have a few days of training or drills, preparing us for the scenes we were going to shoot.”
Parwaaz Hai Junoon is an air force film which is being directed by Haseeb Hassan of Mann Mayal fame. The film stars Hamza Ali Abbasi, Hania Amir and Ahad Raza Mir in lead roles alongside Shamoon Abbasi, Kubra Khan, Shaz Khan and Rachel Viccaji.
