CINE WATCH

Hollywood films to dominate cinema screens

While there are a lot of local films in the making, with Chalay Thay Saath releasing on April 21, Hollywood films will lead cinema houses this weekend. The much anticipated eighth installment of Fast & Furious franchise, The Fate of the Furious is all set to hit cinemas on April 14. Starring Vin Diesel, Jason Statham and Dwayne Johnson, the film centers upon the tests and trials that the crew faces due to a mysterious woman named Cipher.

Also running in cinemas this weekend is Tom McGrath’s animated film The Boss Baby that stars Alec Baldwin, Steve Buscemi and Jimmy Kimmel among many others. The film falls under the genre of comedy and tells the story of a suit-wearing briefcase-carrying baby who pairs up with his seven year-old brother to put an end to the nefarious schemes of the CEO of Puppy Co. The initial reviews of the film are decent so far. According to one of the critics, “Considering that it’s (The Boss Baby) based on a cute but pretty story-lite picture book, this animated comedy exceeds expectations – especially if you’re a fan of Baldwin’s work on 30 Rock.”

Meanwhile Bill Condon’s Beauty and the Beast and Daniel Espinosa’s Life are also running successfully in local cinemas.

FASHION

April is a busy month for fashion. Beginning with bridal extravaganza, BCW 2017, this month has a lot of fashion showcases that are scheduled to emerge soon. The three-day fashion event PFDC Sunsilk Fashion Week that commenced from yesterday in Lahore will be the highlight this weekend. With a unique show format and an amazing designer lineup including HSY, Ali Xeeshan and Sapphire (among many others), the event will be a starry affair with celebrities walking the ramp for their favourite designers.

MUSIC

T2F is all set to host qawwali night called Mee Raqsam that will feature the youngest group of Delhi’s legendary ‘Qawwal Bachon Ka Gharana’ including Hamza Akram and Brothers, who belong to the 805 years old ‘Qawwal Bachon Ka Gharana’ of Delhi and are the grandsons of the inimitable Munshi Raziuddin. The group is led by Hamza Akram, who is currently being trained in eastern classical music by Ustaad Naseeruddin Saami and in Qawali by Ustaad Fareed Ayaz.
