One of the most loved onscreen couples from the golden age of Pakistani cinema, Nadeem Baig and Shabnam recently graced the eighth edition of the Karachi Literature Festival. The two shared great onscreen chemistry and mesmerized viewers with over 50 films back in the seventies and eighties. And as the local film industry is experiencing a revival of sorts, the two legends are gearing up to return to the big screen with the sequel of their 1977 hit film Aina, after several years.

“It’s the sequel of Aina which will be directed by Syed Noor (veteran actor and director),” a source close to Shabnam confirmed to Instep. “While it is confirmed that Shabnam and Baig are coming together for the film, the details regarding the schedule and shoot will be finalized on the 10th of March.”

The source also revealed that Shabnam, who returned to Pakistan from Bangladesh after a long time, is in Lahore these days. While the source refrained from revealing anything about the story and the rest of the cast, she shared that the film is expected to come out on Eid ul Fitr, this year.

Aina (1977) was directed by Nazr-ul-Islam and featured Baig and Shabnam in lead roles. It received an overwhelming response at the time of its release and became a huge success in Pakistan and beyond. What the sequel has on offer for viewers, we need to wait and watch.
