After making its inaugural appearance last year, Cornetto Pop Rock is back with a second season. While last year’s edition featured Noori, Ali Azmat, Umair Jaswal, Zoe Viccaji, Komal Rizvi, Quratulain Balouch, Qurram Hussain and led to several music videos and collaborations plus a series of live shows, this year’s edition will feature an equally star-studded line-up, if not more.
Last year’s contenders, Ali Azmat, Quratulain Balouch, Komal Rizvi and Qurram Hussain, are back in the second season alongside new entrants Meesha Shafi and Momina Mustehsan.
The song that will open the new season is called ‘Yeh Kya Huwa’ and it is by Komal Rizvi. Expected to release this weekend, the song is produced by Saad Sultan and is accompanied by a music video that has been directed by Wajahat Rauf. Choreographed by the talented Wahab Shah, it’s a solo release for Rizvi whose collaboration with Qurram Hussain on the song ‘Desan Da Raja’ during Cornetto Pop Rock season one won the Google Award for being the fourth most watched video on YouTube in Pakistan last year.
Speaking about her new song, Rizvi said in a press statement: “I’m so excited for this season! The success of ‘Desan Da Raja’ inspired me to make this song. I have written this song aiming it to be simple and fun that puts on a smile on faces and then throw in a classic nostalgic tune in a contemporary fashion. It was so much fun working on this song and I hope people enjoy it as much as I loved the process.”
