Anyone who knows fashion and fashion weeks will happily vouch for the hair and beauty connection and relevance with creating seasonal trends. Fashion weeks are not just about creating clothes but just as much about generating ideas for beauty and that aspect will be highlighted at the upcoming Fashion Pakistan Week S/S17 (February 22 and 23). Saeeda Mandviwalla, Creative Artistic Director of TONI&GUY South, in a conversation with Instep, shared how she would be bringing in the latest trends from London Fashion Week and adapting them for the Pakistani woman.

TONY&GUY definitely is an experimental hair brand and manages to set the standard for avant garde styles year after year. Women in Pakistan have started to have fun with hair styles and the three seasonal options – neo-plaits, dry/wet styling and crazy curls – can suggest a lot of fun options to them.

Unlike previous years, the TONY&GUY team will be managing the makeup for its own segment and will also be handling the predominantly western wardrobe that’ll complement the hair in the showcase. Mandviwalla shared how (in past years) she felt that involving designers would often restrict creativity in showing hair trends as they had to work with the designers and keep the aesthetic of the clothes in consideration.

“The aim is to give a fresh and open-minded outlook on how we cut, style and colour (the hair) to enhance the look with makeup,” an official statement shared.
