When superstar couple of Saif Ali Khan and Kareena Kapoor- Khan recently welcomed their new born son into this universe and named him Taimur Ali Khan Pataudi, several people had an issue with it, so much so that it forced certain parties to clear the air.

As soon as the couple announced the name, they received a strong, mostly negative backlash on social media for naming their child after a 14th century Mongol invader. The issue gained such prominence that veteran actor Rishi Kapoor spoke up in support of the couple. This was followed by Saif responding to the remarks, and now Kareena has broken her silence on the matter.

“The controversy was bizarre,” she said in a recent interview to Hindustan Times. “I have no idea why people took my baby’s name so personally. But we love the name and let me put it this way — it has no resemblance to any person living or dead. We love the meaning (Taimur means iron in Arabic) and I am happy that [some] people came out in support of us so strongly. That support matters more than anything bad that was said or written.”

The actress also said that it’s not surprising for a star kid to fall victim to such controversies and that she would advise her son to keep his head down, be humble and ignore what people say about him.

On the work front, the actress is expected to resume shooting very soon for her upcoming chick flick, Veera Di Wedding that also stars Sonam Kapoor in a pivotal role.
