Essaying a hit-man in new drama serial Sammi, veteran actor Adnan Siddiui is all set to make his Bollywood film debut alongside Sridevi with the upcoming film, Mom. The actor will soon be heading to India, along with Sajal Aly (who also stars in the film) to complete the shooting for the film, which was delayed due to reasons unknown.
A popular local newspaper recently reported that Siddiqui is afraid to travel to India unless he’s assured security there, followed by a local news site reporting the same. However, the actor denies saying any such thing and is upset that they didn’t confirm the story with him before publishing it.
“I never said that I won’t go to India unless they assure security,” Siddiqui told Instep. “Considering the sensitivity of the current situation between Pakistan and India, I just said that since they are calling us there, they must have thought of security arrangements. Some elections will be going on in India during the period when I’m expected to go for the shoot there and this is why I was concerned.”
The actor also stated that when cultural ties began to suffer due to political tensions between the two countries, Pakistani artists working in India were assured that films that have already been made or are in production will not be affected by the situation. And Mom is one such film. “They were reluctant for new collaborations and this makes complete sense considering the current scenario,” shared Siddiqui.
The actor is expected to visit India next month to complete the shooting of Mom which is slated to release later this year. In the film, Siddiqui will essay the role of Sridevi’s husband while Sajal will be essaying the role of their daughter.
