Amidst a small chunk of local films that are expected to hit cinemas in the last quarter of 2016 is Sanam Saeed-starrer Rahm, an unpublicized film that not many people know of. Based on William Shakespeare’s play Measure for Measure, Rahm is all set to release across Pakistan except in Islamabad, for reasons unknown. Instep got in touch with Sanam Saeed to find out the reason behind its quiet release.
“It’s a foreign team and they didn’t want to overhype the film,” Saeed told Instep. “There were no promotional plans as such as this is not their way of promoting a film.”
Playing the protagonist in the film, Saeed shared that the film mainly revolves around the theme of justice. “I’m playing the main protagonist who fights for justice against corruption,” she shared. “It’s not a commercial film which is for everyone. It’s an art film, a dark tragedy to be precise, and only those who have read Shakespeare would be interested in it.”
The actress also noted that she agreed to do the film despite her busy schedule because of Ahmed A Jamal, the director of the film, who’s a very dear friend of her father’s.
Saeed, who is currently in Lahore for promotions of her upcoming film Dobara Phir Se, also informed us that Rahm will release in England, later this year, as part of Shakespeare’s death anniversary.
