Karachi :It was announced at a press conference hosted by Hum TV that Hamza Ali Abbasi and Osman Khalid Butt will be sharing space on the big screen for a film being made in collaboration with the Pakistan Air Force. The film, titled Parwaaz Hay Junoon, will be released on Eid ul Azha in 2017. The script is being written at the moment, therefore it is unclear what the story will be but Abbasi commented on his role in the film, saying he will be playing the character of a cadet of the Air Force.

The project came to being when PAF’s media wing approached Momina Duraid of MD films to work on a promotional video, which then turned into a feature length film.

Present alongside with the cast and crew of the production was Air Commodore Syed Mohammed Ali of PAF’s media wing. “I’m truly excited for this venture. We went to MD films asking them to help us out and I’m glad that this project is now coming to light.”

Haseeb Hassan will be directing the film while Farhat Ishtiaq, who has many memorable TV and film productions to her name (such as Udaari and Bin Roye) is the writer. “I’m in the process of researching for the script and I came across so many incredible stories that really made me think about all these heroes that no one hears about,” she expressed at the event.

Abbasi stressed on the importance of celebrating our soldiers and showing another side of Pakistan to the world. “As an actor, this is the biggest achievement for me that I can do something for my country. I want to thank the Pakistan Air Force for giving me this opportunity. Today, we are where we are, in this fancy hotel, having this conversation, because of these brave soldiers who sacrifice their lives to protect our right to live peacefully.”

The second lead of the film, Osman Khalid Butt, shared his childhood infatuation with wanting to be a pilot when he was younger. “I was always a little bit of a daredevil and once someone told my sister that I should be a pilot. Since then I have romanticized the idea and now thanks to this opportunity, I will get to do in my reel life what I couldn’t do in my real life.”

Momina Duraid also announced that a considerable amount of the film’s earning will be contributed towards PAF’s fund for martyrs. Strongs rumours before the press con suggested that Mahira Khan was being cast opposite Hamza Ali Abbasi in this film but it was obviously just a rumour as she is not part of the project. The female lead is still unannounced and we believe, still undecided. Any suggestions?
