Ever since the second episode of Coke Studio season 9 went on air this past weekend, singer-songwriter Momina Mustehsan has become the talk of the town. The singer, who made her Coke Studio debut this year, has won many a heart with her melodious voice. Mustehsan lent her vocals to the ever popular ghazal ‘Afreen Afreen’, in collaboration with Rahat Fateh Ali Khan, which was originally sung by the legendary Ustad Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan (Late).
Mustehsan recently took to Twitter to share her excitement over trending on Twitter for more than 48 hours straight and being appreciated for her rendition. “50+ consistent hours and I’m still trending on Twitter in Pakistan oh man!” the young singer tweeted. This was followed by another tweet that said, “Though it was a small feature, thanks for appreciating ‘Afreen Afreen‘! More to come on Coke Studio.”
However this isn’t the first time that Mustehsan caught our attention. She co-wrote ‘Pi Jaun’ with Saad Sultan that earned her a lot of fame and landed her an opportunity to make way to B-town; she collaborated with Pakistani band Soch for a song (‘Awari’) in Sidharth Malhotra-Shraddha Kapoor starrer Ek Villain (2014).
Mustehsan has also sung the title track for Anjum Shahzad’s upcoming film Zindagi Kitni Haseen Hay along with Adnan Dhool of Soch.
