Having delivered a solid performance in the latest Star Trek film, the actor is looking all set to make his presence felt in DC’s standalone Wonder Woman film that will release next summer, making it a second mainstream vehicle for the star.

Images of Pine alongside Gal Gadot’s Wonder Woman have surfaced online, confirming earlier reports that the actor has been cast in the role of her love interest, Captain Steve Trevor. Gadot’s Wonder Woman who made her first official appearance in this year’s earlier release, Batman vs. Superman: Dawn of Justice will be joined in the film by Pine and House of Cards star Robin Wright. The DC Comics film, which is being directed by Patty Jenkins, however, must learn from Zack Snyder’s erroneous superhero debacle that was Dawn of Justice if it hopes to give Marvel a run for its money.

Moving on, Pine will also lead the cast of the fourth installment of Star Trek, which has been announced officially. Pine’s path will cross with Chris Hemsworth, who made a cameo appearance in the first rebooted Star Trek film as Capt. James T. Kirk’s father, George, a starship captain who sacrificed his own life to save the lives of his crew members.
