If there’s a makeup item that we’re obsessed with, it has to be mascara. A few coats on your lashes and your entire look is transformed. When applied properly, mascara can act as a mini eye lift, making your peepers look bigger, brighter and more defined. But women world over mostly resort to using black mascara, sticking to the sooty shade instead of experimenting with colour.

There are also not many coloured mascara options available that offer a highly pigmented formulae, until now.

Spring heralds the launch of Vinyl Couture Mascara, presented to us by the geniuses at YSL Beauty. A range of nine lacquer pigments with a liquid base, the mascaras provide an easy way of introducing colour into your makeup. The shades vary from classic black to a vibrant purple, hot pink and electric blue. The range also comes with two shimmery topcoat versions that can be used on top of any regular mascara for some sparkly depth and dimension.

Offering a vibrant range of colours, YSL Vinyl Couture Mascaras appear to be super pigmented and promise a high gloss finish.

Releasing internationally world over in May, the mascaras are priced at around Rs. 3000-3500, making them rather expensive but then again, you have be willing to dish out the moolah when the product is this bespoke. It’s packaged differently from the rest of the YSL mascara ranges, retaining the gold top but shifting from round tubes to a rectangular shape. Despite not being available in the market yet, the pre-release reviews tout this range to be highly pigmented, with a vibrancy of colours that isn’t currently found in the market.

The mascaras have apparently been formulated using a hydrating mix of four different essential oils including argan, sweet almond and castor oil, which is reputed to help your lashes grow longer and healthier when used regularly.  Makeup that’s good for our skin and face? Yes please, we’ll take the whole range.
