Musicians have rarely been the most fashionable of people in Pakistan. They do have a peculiar sense of style, enough to make a statement (read: Atif Aslam in a candy pink shalwar kameez, Salman Ahmed’s Sufi topi) but sophisticated designer wear is hardly their cup of tea. The recent past, however, has seen winds of change, especially with female vocalists making an extra effort in curating their concert looks.
Amongst them, Meesha Shafi - having remained a model in her heydays - is at the top of the game. Her ongoing North American tour is particularly attention-grabbing as far as fashion is concerned. The rock star turned up the heat in a pair of silver, metallic wide-legged pants by Ali Xeeshan, black organza top and loose curls at the San Francisco show but it was really her structured Sania Maskatiya outfit at the Chicago concert that was the real show-stealer. She put her style game on and added personal touches by pairing the outfit with a black, embellished Elan shrug and a belt cinched at the waist. For some this may be fashion blasphemy but in case of Meesha this is more like bringing the best of two worlds together.
Surprisingly, this is the exact same outfit that singer Zoe Viccaji wore for her performance at the fashion portal Fabbitt’s glamorous launch in Lahore, last week. The ‘Phir Mili Tanhai’ singer kept it minimal with bare minimum accessories and a sleek, straight hairdo. She ditched the original flared pants for ash gray, glittered tights. While we don’t mind keeping things simple, those tights were a complete bummer and took away from the elegance of the outfit. We feel Meesha wears the look much better than Zoe. What do you think?
