The journey to stardom is not an easy one; there are several highs and lows one has to go through before they reach a significant level of stardom. A case in point: Bollywood’s rising star Ranveer Singh.
Though Singh has won multiple awards for his performance as Peshwa Bajirao in last year’s Bajirao Mastani, with no familial connection in the film world, his story is one of triumph against staggering odds as well as bypassing nepotism that is the unspoken rule in Bollywood.
In a recent interview with Filmfare, Ranveer Singh bared all and spoke at length about his struggling days.
“I have had some tough life experiences,” Singh told Filmfare. “It’s not all been rosy. I have been through prolonged intense and immense emotional turbulence, financial difficulties...I have been ridiculed, faced racism and humiliation.”
The actor, who comes across as a happy and cheerful person, admitted that he is too sensitive which often becomes harmful for him. “Being so sensitive isn’t good as it puts you at the mercy of the big bad world. I am an extremist, my feelings are also extreme,” he maintained. “It will be difficult for me if I do not try to be happy and spread happiness so I use it as a defense mechanism.”
Known for his playful attitude, Singh admitted that his need to be liked often eclipses his intelligence. “I play the fool because ‘the fool’ is more likeable and relatable,” said Singh.
The actor who recently launched the 18th edition of Mumbai Film Festival’s brand new look is currently busy shooting for his upcoming film Befikre and is said to have been finalized as the lead in Dhoom 4.
