It’s usual for designers to get praise for their creations whether through standing ovations at fashion weeks, booming sales or testimonials from customers.

It’s usual for designers to get praise for their creations whether through standing ovations at fashion weeks, booming sales or testimonials from customers. But amidst all the hype and people’s love affair with brand names, the efforts of the many craftsmen that work together to produce the drool-worthy outfit often go unacknowledged. However, it seems Lahore-based designer Zara Shahjahan does not want to keep all the appreciation to herself.

The designer initiated a campaign, #I Made Your Clothes, on Instagram yesterday putting a face to all the names behind the making of a Zara Shahjahan outfit. From Master Riaz, who makes the patterns for her bridal wear to Saima, the PPC head, Shahjahan took the opportunity to introduce her team members on the brand’s official Instagram profile and share all the glory with them whilst letting customers know of the working environment at Zara Shahjahan.

“Fashion revolution is an international blog. They started the campaign way back, encouraging people to ask who made their clothes. So we followed in the footsteps to not just let people know of how their clothes are made and ensure them that the working environment at our label is safe and favourable; that our craftsmen are well-paid but also to give respect to the people behind our creations,” Shahjahan told Instep.

Fashion Revolution’s campaign was meant to promote ethical fashion practices and for Zara Shahjahan to embrace that as a designer is definitely applause-worthy.
