Summer has brought with it an array of designer lawns - offering
exciting new prints this season. You! takes a look at some renowned brands...

It’s time to ditch those denim jeans and switch to the thin and light lawn fabric. It’s not only the comfort factor that pulls women towards lawn outfits; it is the freedom to experiment with fabric that has made lawn a trendsetter.

This week You! features three lawn brands that have been inspiring women for years now.  Their innovative designs and unmatched quality have made them a favourite among fashionistas!

The big ones

Ethnic touch

Amongst the best brands to be launched this season is the lawn collection by Gul Ahmed. The name has been around since the past 50 years and has more than 60 retail stores across the country, offering a diverse range of products from home accessories to fashion clothing. This year too Gul Ahmed has managed to leave everyone in awe with its unique prints. This time round, the brand has brought forth a wide array of psychedelic and ethnic prints with an interesting mix of vibrant and soft pastel hues. The collection is sensuous, elegant, and encapsulates the taste of the modern woman who wants to appear casual yet chic. The stitched kurtis focus on minimalistic cuts and classic silhouettes, while the unstitched lawn is accompanied with fancy dupattas and intricate embroidery add oomph to the suit. The collection is perfect for those who want to achieve that pretty girl next door look.

The lawn was launched with a star studded event by Keys production that included media personnel, bloggers, and members of the fashion fraternity. Some of the celebs present at the launch included Iman Ali, Sana Fakhar, Zhalay Sarhadi, Sunita Marshall, Ahsan Khan, Shamoon Abbasi, Angie Marshall, YBQ, Rabya Chaudhry, Danish Hayat, and Kiran Khan. The event was hosted by Anoushey Ashraf and also featured a fashion show where models Areeba Habib, Saima Azhar, Falak Shaikh, Saima Haroon, Faiza Ashfaq and Hira Ejaz walked the runway adorning sorbet-shaded designs of the brand.

Go floral

Another big brand to make a statement this year is Nishat linen, one of the biggest textile and home fashion retail chains in Pakistan. The brand has more than 70 outlets in 29 cities. With so many stores under its belt, it is obvious that the name always has something interesting to offer to fashion conscious women. The brand made an impression yet again this year with their lawn collection that offers a unique colour palette that is in accordance with the current trends of the season. The aim of the brand is to create apparels for women from all walks of life. The three piece suits with printed dupattas in charmeuse, crinkle, bemberg and silk are ultra-feminine silhouettes and flowery patterns are the strongest element used. The collection offers numerous prints with flowers of all shapes sizes and patterns. Surely, the designers for the brand haven’t left a single stone unturned. This collection is just the right blend for women who want to appear feminine yet strong. Not only this, the brand has also launched scarves that can be worn with kurtis.

Go glam

This brand opened its doors to Karachi in 1998 and has now become a one stop shop for women. Yes, we are talking about Khaadi, a brand that offers a collection of prêt wear, stitched kurtis and unstitched material. Recently, the brand has opened up another store with its new funky lawn collection. For years, Khaadi has been a popular choice for many women and recently the brand has started catering to the younger generation who focus on dressing hip. The prints introduced this time round are stylish, seasonal and on-trend, and cater to every fashion-savvy and trend-setting Pakistani woman. What makes these prints worth a buy is the fusion of colours that blend well with the intricate patterns of the prints. The kurtis have an energetic colour palette with hues of warm indigos, blues, fresh pinks, greens and ochre which are ideal for the summer season. The designs also cater to a diverse clientele ranging from elegant motifs for a more mature customer; to fresh youthful patterns and darker hues and tones for formal evening wear. What’s different about this brand? It’s a fusion of creative designs and intriguing patterns.
