After a phenomenal performance in Macbeth and before that in Jobs, Michael Fassbender is coming back with several prolific films this year. While X-Men: Apocalypse is still on the cards, Fassbender is also gearing up for the film adaptation of the famous video game, Assassin’s Creed.
The film brings together the Macbeth team once more as Fassbender is cast alongside Marion Cotillard and Justin Kurzel is attached to direct the film.
According to Total Film, the story is as follows: “the cell-bound sketcher Callum Lynch, the modern-day character Fassbender plays in the time-hopping videogame adaptation. The X-Men star also plays Aguilar, Lynch’s 15th-Century sword-swinging ancestor. Thanks to the tech at Abstergo Industries, Lynch can effectively travel back in time and relive Aguilar’s memories”.
Given the caliber of those involved, Assassin’s Creed will be a rare venture that appeals to cinema fans as match as video game fans. While the film is scheduled to open in December, a sequel is already on the cards with Fassbender ready for the follow-up.
