After ruling the big screen and hearts of millions of people during the ’80s and early ‘90s, superstar Sridevi made the most successful comeback on screen with Gauri Shinde’s English Vinglish in 2013. She was also the only actress to have made the most successful comeback amongst all the others who tried their luck in their second innings including Madhuri Dixit, Karisma Kapoor and Ashwariya Rai Bachcan.
Now, after a gap of three years, Sridevi is back on the sets in Delhi, where she has started shooting for the film titled Mom. Sridevi plays a Delhi mom and the names of Akshara Haasan and Pakistani actress Sajal Ali have been doing the rounds to play the role of her daughter. Rumour has it that the producers are keen to cast the Pakistani actress, whose latest serial Gul-e-Rana is testament to her acting talents. Her Pakistani film Zindagi Kitni Haseen Hai where she plays Feroze Khan’s love interest is also due for release this year.
Nawazuddin Siddiqui plays a small part in the film and joins the team in the second week of April. Akshay Khanna is also part of the cast and the word around town is that Pakistani actor Adnan Siddiqui may be seen in an important role as well.
It is exciting to see how Pakistani TV stars are continuously making their presence felt across the border. Will Sajal walk down the same path as Mahira and Fawad Khan? It remains to be seen.
