The Pakistan Fashion Design Council celebrated the launch of their latest initiative, the Fashion Active (TPFA) exhibition space with a viewing of luxury formal wear by upcoming brand Morri. Located on the first floor of Mall One, where PFDC currently houses its retail store on the ground floor, TPFA aims to provide a reliable platform all year round for fashion exhibitions, showcases and presentations.

The exhibition space itself is a long rectangular room that suits a fashion viewing format more than an exhibition would. It is flanked on the left side by the TPFA offices which are nearing completion and will be populated as soon as they have been set up.

What really stood out about the launch was the brand it was introducing; Morri. A high fashion label with a distinct aesthetic, Morri displays all the potential of turning into a top tier label if their first collection is anything to go by. Titled The Seven Steps to Baltiyul, the collection is inspired by a mystical journey of the contemporary woman as she weaves her way across the varied landscapes of Balochistan. It featured a deep, jewel tone palette ranging from sapphire blue to maroon, dusty rose, teal, champagne and ivory.

The collection featured interesting silhouettes that were trendy and current, pairing them with impeccable, detailed embellishment and a meticulous finish. From a gorgeous peacock motif blouse in midnight blue that was teamed with an intricately embroidered sari to an ethereal ivory skirt embellished with three dimensional wings, fit for a forest fairy, Seven Steps to Baltiyul was an ode to the modern woman who is unabashed of her sensuality and is feminine, but in an unconventional way that sets her apart. The collection is available for order at the brand’s studio in Lahore.
