Summer 2016’s big lawn debuts

By Style File
25 February, 2016

With anything between 245 and 360 lawn collections ready to hit retail any time, it wouldn’t be wrong to say that lawn exhaustion is a cinch to override lawn excitement this summer (as is the case every summer). But amongst the textile invasion that does include some extremely desirable names like Sana Safinaz, Elan, Faraz Manan and Zara Shahjahan are three names new to lawn that are stirring up some curiosity.

Nilofer Shahid, Shehla Chatoor and Feeha Jamshed are three exciting new additions to the run-of-the-(lawn)-mill.

Nilofer Shahid for  Ittehad Textiles

Nilofer Shahid, it was revealed exclusively to us yesterday, has replaced HSY as lawn designer for Ittehad Textiles. This will be Nilofer’s first lawn collaboration, and it comes three months after her successful fashion week debut at Fashion Pakistan Week in December 2015. The couturier, who is famous for designing historically rich, opulent collections, will inevitably bring her dramatic aesthetic to this mass medium. “There will be a bit of all my work in the lawn,” she shared and so we can expect Rembrandt, Khalil Jibran, Rumi and Princess Josephine to roll in and out with the prints.

Shehla Chatoor for Shariq Textiles

It’s unusual for a designer as passionate about luxury clothing, as Shehla Chatoor is, to step into lawn but the couturier is all set to launch her very first collection of prints with Shariq Textiles in April. Shariq has been associated with several names in the past but this is undoubtedly the most high end collaboration for the brand. Shehla comes with over twenty years of experience in designing and creating the finest luxury and wedding wear in Pakistan. She has shown regularly at fashion weeks and her prints have always stood out. The designer says that her lawn will reflect her fondness for luxury and will also include traces of her hit prints while keeping in mind the mass market.

Feeha Jamshed for Flitz

Feeha Jamshed, who carries the TeeJays legacy into her eponymous brand, will be collaborating with a textile mill for the very first time. Feeha is one of those rare designers who have a stronghold on public sensibility and yet she has this super contemporary aesthetic that allows her clothes to be earmarked ‘global’. When it comes to fashion, she’s a rock star and it will be extremely refreshing to see that ideology brought out as lawn prints. Feeha, if allowed to play on her strengths, will probably touch upon a younger and cooler clientele. We haven’t seen her prints yet but if they’re anything like the quirky looks she creates for her signature label, then there’s a promise of some fun for lawn enthusiasts out there!
