Sharjeel says some parties derailing democracy

KARACHI: Provincial Minister for Information Sharjeel Inam Memon said on Friday that some parties and people wanted to derail democracy but as usual it was flourishing.

The journalism and political parties are playing similar role for taking democracy to high, if someone wants to take extrajudicial step he will fail in his bids, he said while talking to media at Karachi

KARACHI: Provincial Minister for Information Sharjeel Inam Memon said on Friday that some parties and people wanted to derail democracy but as usual it was flourishing.

The journalism and political parties are playing similar role for taking democracy to high, if someone wants to take extrajudicial step he will fail in his bids, he said while talking to media at Karachi press club (KPC) where he was invited by KPC management as guest.

He announced the grant of Rs 1 million to establish Auditorium and Gymnasium in KPC besides unveiling that he would distribution extra plots among the working journalists.

Sharjeel said there was need to ensure responsible journalism for stability of Pakistan.

He said those persons who got benefits during the dictatorship era were feeling uncomfortable in the democracy.

Talking about Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf members resignations from Sindh Assembly, he said, Speaker Agha Siraj Durrani had called them for verification.

Replying to a query the minister said that he respects Pakistan Muslim League Functional PML-F leader Pir Pagara but whatever Arbab Ghulam Raheem said was foolishness. (PPI)
