MULTAN: Veteran politician Javed Hashmi on Wednesday regretted Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) chief Altaf Hussain’s attitude, saying ‘while Pakistani soldiers are rendering sacrifices of their lives Altaf Hussain calls himself a son of India’.
Addressing a press conference here at his residence, Javed Hashmi said a trial for treason should be initiated against Altaf Hussain and the Pakistan government should make arrangements for his extradition through British authorities’ cooperation.
“Altaf Hussain is calling out India for help but he has forgotten that he was thrown out of India,” he said, adding, however, he has a soft corner for MQM for its being the party of a middle class.
He said despite the fact today’s decision of the Supreme Court was one taken by the majority, he would still call it a good ruling. “As a result of this decision, one institution’s interference will stop into another’s. And this decision was not made under duress,” he added.
Javed Hashmi said even the military courts and military leadership have adopted a constitutional course and the Supreme Court too endorsed the same today.
