With global efforts to contain COVID-19 already underway, most of the global economy is slowly relapsing into mental health issues. To prevent such a downfall, Rihanna’s organization The Clara Lionel Foundation has offered over USD 15 million for a large amount of the population.
According to a report by the Daily Mail the singer claims, “Racial injustices perpetrated by systems built to keep people safe are exacerbating the Coronavirus’ mental health impact on individuals and families across the United States.”
“Even as the majority of states have begun lifting restrictions in recent days, millions of Americans continue to face daunting challenges when it comes to their health, mental and economic well-being.”
The main reason for her to offer this platform of support is because her foundation has come to see that most LBBTQ youth and high-risk students have received little to no support during this time.
The organization claims the donation will address mental health issues for low income families that have been excluded from the federal stimulus programs being offered in Chicago and Newark.
