Oprah Winfrey and Britain’s Prince Harry have teamed up to produce an Apple documentary series aimed at raising awareness on mental health.
In an interview on “CBS This Morning” on Wednesday, Winfrey opened up about her forthcoming Apple TV documentary series on mental health and how she came to partner with Prince Harry on the project.
Winfrey said it all started with a simple question during a conversation with the royal, when she asked him, “What do you think are the most important issues facing the world right now?” He told her there are two; climate change and mental wellness.
She further said that she told him about her project with Apple TV. “At the end of the conversation, he said, if there is anything I can do to help. And I go ‘as a matter of fact,” she added.
According to the announcement on Prince Harry and Meghan Markel’s official Instagram account, the multi-part docuseries will focus on “mental illness and mental wellness, inspiring viewers to have an honest conversation about the challenges each of us faces, and how to equip ourselves with the tools to not simply survive, but thrive.”
Moreover, Prince Harry has spoken about his own personal experience and struggles, particularly with regards to how the death of his mother – Princess Diana, affected his life and work.
Harry and Winfrey, will partner as co-creators and executive producers of the series, which is expected to launch in 2020.
