While the Lux Style Awards is widely considered as the highest accolade for the fashion and entertainment industries in Pakistan, it is no surprise that the awards have managed to stir controversy once again much like in the past when it landed in hot waters over nominations, performances, and sometimes even inappropriate jokes.

This year, as the Lux Style Awards 2019 released the complete list of nominees, a series of controversial statements started making rounds on social media from a couple of notable names in the industry.

Model Eman Suleman, who is known to speak up about social issues, was the first to come forth sharing a video message saying that she feels ‘no joy’ in sharing an LSA nomination with an ‘alleged harasser.’

However, the model did not name who she was referring to and clarified that she did not send her portfolio to the LSAs for consideration either.

Soon after, Mohsin Abbas Haider came out criticizing the Lux Style Awards (LSA) 2019 nominations which was followed by more industry insiders who have turned to Twitter to express their anger.

Director of ‘Teefa in Trouble’ Ahsan Rahim also expressed how upset he is with the LSA nominations for completely neglecting his film in the best soundtrack category.

Rahim said that his film has gotten three nominations and but was entirely overlooked for its music.

Playback singer and song composer Shaani Arshad also showed disappointment for not being nominated for the OST of drama ‘Koi Chaand Rakh.’

According to the singer, one of the most popular OSTs of the year did not make the list which came as a shock to him.

On the other hand, producer Abdullah Seja stepped up for actor Faisal Qureshi’s performance in drama ‘Haiwaan’ which he thinks also fell prey to neglect by the jury.
