Pakistan People’s Party has condemned Prime Minister Imran Khan's decision of removing the name of Benazir Bhutto from Benazir Income Support Program (BISP).
In this regard, PPP leader Sharmila Faruqi has come forth voicing her thoughts on any change in the name of the program.
In a tweet published recently Faraqui said, “How would @ImranKhanPTI feel if the next government removes the name of his mother from Shaukat Khanum Hospital?”
Slamming PM Imran Khan’s decision she added, "Morally, ethically and legally you have lost the plot Mr. P.M. #Benazirincomesupportprogram"
Shaukat Khanum Memorial Cancer hospital is Pakistan’s largest cancer hospital. SKMCH is a private hospital, built by PM Imran Khan in 1994.
Earlier, the decision to change the name was decided by PM Imran upon the demand of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf ally and Grand Democratic Alliance (GDA) leader Makhdoom Mohsin on Sunday, during a meeting in Ghotki.
The BISP was launched in 2008 by the former government of PPP. The program name was a tribute to the former PM Benazir Bhutto, who was assassinated in 2007.
The poverty alleviation program was inaugurated to provide regular stipend to the poor and vulnerable segment of the society.
