RAWALPINDI: Clashes broke out between police and the Pakistan People's Party (PPP) workers on Wednesday outside the Rawalpindi headquarters of the National Accountability Bureau (NAB) as Bilawal Bhutto Zardari appeared before the investigators probing fake account case.
Geo News correspondent said around 200 PPP workers had gathered outside the NAB office chanting slogans against the government. He said 36 workers have been taken into custody and shifted to police stations.
Footage from outside the NAB office showed police baton charging the PPP workers.
A video circulating on Twitter shows Mustafa Nawaz Khokar, Bilawal Bhutto's spokesman, attacking a policeman.
PPP leader Nayyar Bukhari claimed that 150 workers were taken into custody.
According to Geo News, a meeting of party leaders was held at the Zardari House in Islamabad to review the situation that emerged ahead of the appearance.
Asif Ali Zardari and Zardari accompanied the PPP chairman to the NAB office where they were integrated.
Bakhtawar Bhutto took to Twitter and condemned the police crackdown.

The father son duo appeared before the joint investigation team of the NAB in connection with the fake case account.
The PPP chairman was summoned by NAB in connection with Park Lane Estate Company case.
Asif Zardari waved at the supporters and Bilawal Bhutoo Zardari posed for selfies with lawyers as they come out of the NAB office.
The police refused to allow the PPP chairman to hold media talk at the NADRA chowk due to security reason.

Standing atop his car's bonnet, Bilawal Bhutto admitted that the PPP government committed a mistake by not undoing what he said the black law of NAB.
He said the NAB was established for political engineering.
He said the aim of creating NAB in 2002 was to steal PPP mandate and to make parasite groups of the party.
He also called the then opposition leader in the National Assembly as "selected opposition leader".
The PPP chairman said he was less than one year old when he was made shareholder of the company that has been implicated in a case against him.

The Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) has also been probing the money laundering case involving fake bank accounts and have arrested Omni Group owner Anwar Majeed and owner of a private bank during the course of investigation.
The FIA on July 6 last year filed a case in the banking court which conducted the hearing for eight months.
Asif Ali Zardari and Faryal Talpur have acquired protective bail to avoid arrest.
