Renowned British-Pakistani actor Riz Ahmed is all set to step in the shoes of a rapper as he is now producing and starring in the upcoming musical drama Mughal Mowgli.
The drama will showcase Riz Ahmed as a rapper of Pakistani descent, who at the start of his musical stint suffers from an ailment that puts his career at stake.
Riz Ahmed is producing through his Left Handed Films with Pulse Films’ Thomas Benski and Bennett McGhee, along with Michael Peay. BBC Films, Cinereach, SFFILM Invest, Vice Studios, and RYOT Films have also joined the project as financiers.
Earlier Riz had won an Emmy award for her stellar performance in HBO's The Night Of after which he went on to star in Rogue One: A Star Wars Story.
On his thoughts about being a South Asian actor in Hollywood, Riz said, "Being a South Asian in the industry is both a gift and a curse because it gives you the ability to subvert minorities which are not visible or have been marginalised. It’s nice when people see me on screen and say, ‘Oh, we didn’t expect to see a brown person in that role’," he said in a recent interview.
