Some important government personalities may be arrested soon by the National Accountability Bureau, senior journalist and Capital Talk anchorperson Hamid Mir said on Wednesday.
Giving his analysis on the situation after the arrest of Speaker Sindh Assembly Agha Siraj Durrani from an Islamabad hotel earlier today in assets beyond means case, Mir said he has seen the investigative reports prepared by the anti-gaft body.
Mir said Durrani should tender his resignation like former senior Punjab minister Aleem Khan did when he was taken into custody by the NAB from Lahore office.
While the opposition and government parties cry foul, they should focus on legislation rather than making public statements on the matter.
The Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf government is seemed uninterested in any sort of legislation despite opposition’s willingness to do so.
He said that the political parties have the responsibility to save the system by strengthening the Parliament but the assembly session is not being convened. When was the last time Prime Minister Imran Khan attended any parliamentary proceedings, he asked.
