PSL 2019: Afridi took to Twitter sharing Dwayne Bravo's song and wrote: “Well @DJBravo47, this is definitely an improvement on the Champion song, especially since you’ve included me in the lineup. Wishing you all the very best with this new number, I hope it gets just as popular!”

Dubai: Just before the HBL PSL 2019 gets underway, Dwayne Bravo, the global Twenty20 ambassador, has released a new track titled Asia. His previous track Champion was a runaway hit and defined the ICC World T20 2016, and Bravo is now hoping for the same with his new song.

This song features several cricketers from Asia’s cricketing countries, and has definitely impressed former Pakistan skipper Shahid Afridi a lot.

Afridi took to Twitter sharing the song and wrote: “Well @DJBravo47, this is definitely an improvement on the Champion song, especially since you’ve included me in the lineup. Wishing you all the very best with this new number, I hope it gets just as popular!”

The one-minute-long song also features India stars MS Dhoni and Virat Kohli, Sri Lanka’s Kumar Sangakkara and Mahela Jayawardena, Bangladesh’s Shakib Al Hasan and Afghanistan spinner Rashid Khan.

The 35-year-old all-rounder began working on the song in 2017, spending the entire season preparing for the album while nursing and injury.

Last year Bravo featured in a song for his team Trinbago Knight Riders in the Caribbean Premier League (CPL). The official anthem titled Bowl Them Out was the official anthem of Trinbago Knight Riders for the 2018 season of the Caribbean Premier League. The music video also featured Bollywood superstar and co-owner of the franchise Shah Rukh Khan.

Bravo himself revealed the anthem, calling it a dream come true.

He further added: “I did a song with Bollywood’s greatest who is also the owner of TKR. All this could not be possible without my team at home Jojo Wiz, Dexter Thomas, kalveerbiradar on video production and Kryssi; thanks guys. To my fans all around the world, this song is for YOU. Thank you.”

Bravo is a globe-trotter in terms of playing Twenty20 leagues around the world. Since his fall out with Cricket West Indies, he was mainly concentrating on Twenty20 leagues and plying his extraordinary trade. He is a bowler well suited for limited overs cricket, with an uncanny deliveries which includes slower ones, off-breaks and lethal yorkers.

Bravo has played for habitual champions Chennai, Mumbai Indians and Gujrat Lions in the IPL, Kent in England’s Twenty20 blast, Lahore Qalandars and Peshawar Zalmi in the PSL, Melbourne Renegades, Melbourne Stars and Sydney Sixers in the Big Bash, Trinbago Knight Riders, Trinidad & Tobago, Trinidad & Tobago Red Steel in the Caribbean League and for Winnipeg Hawks in the Canadian league.

So many teams line up for him and that shows that he is in high demands.

Bravo places HBL PSL amongst the top leagues he has played in.

“I play T20 leagues around the world and they are all very exciting,” said Bravo. “I think PSL is one of the best leagues and the little I have played in the PSL, I found people very caring and they made me feel at home.

“HBL PSL is a very competitive league and I look forward to do my best this year.”

When PSL 2019 gets underway, it will be interesting to see if Bravo comes up with another album, which catches the attention of the fans. He is playing for Quetta Gladiators this year, which means he will rub shoulders with fellow star all-rounder Shane Watson, apart from Pakistan captain Sarfaraz Ahmed.

The squad also features former West Indies captain Sir Viv Richards as mentor. It will be interesting to see how the two tango on the sidelines during the tournament.

Quetta has some other very interesting overseas players like leg-spinner Fawad Ahmed (who left Pakistan to play for Australia), Sunil Narine, Rilee Rossouw and Dwayne Smith. The most interesting aspect is how the squad will feature some mercurial talents like Umar Akmal and Ahmed Shehzad.

This star-studded squad surely means Bravo will have a big role to play during the season of PSL.

Bravo will be the lead artist not just off the field but on the field too.

Bravo has made a promise to tour Pakistan, for the last leg of the tournament, which has excited the fans no end.

“Hi guys it’s DJ Bravo, the champion,” said Bravo in a video message. “First of all, I want to thank Quetta Gladiators for picking me in the draft to be a part of the PSL 2019.

“Pakistan, the Champion, is going to be coming there so please support us, look out for me.

“It’s first time for me since 2006, so I am really looking forward to be there. Remember, Quetta, Champions, everybody knows Quetta is champion,” said Bravo in his famous singing tone.

Welcome to Pakistan, Champions. The fans will swoon over you!
