Bollywood actor Vicky Kaushal starring next to Alia Bhatt in the upcoming thriller ‘Raazi’ has opened up about the film stating that it goes beyond than merely being a war story.

The film adapted by Harindar S Sikka’s novel ‘Calling Sehmat’ which is based on true events goes beyond the concept of being an Indo-Pak war story and examines much more profound ideas that exist in its tale, according to the actor.

“The film is not just about the Indo-Pak war, it is much deeper than that. It is about an individual relationship. It is also about an era when there was tension between the two countries and during that time a Kashmiri woman married a Pakistani major,” stated Vicky while talking to an Indian media outlet.

The actor added that the film sheds light on characters making choices that not only impact their own lives but also the destinies of both the countries.

Vicky had also mentioned that the film does not disgrace or lionize either of the countries, saying: “It is not a hero-villain story. It is not about ‘my country is good and yours is evil’. Both countries are doing their jobs. The men in uniform know they belong to one country and are supposed to perform their duty — that is how they are trained.”

The story set in 1971 encircles the life of Sehmat, an Indian spy who marries a Pakistani military officer to get hold of confidential information.
