KARACHI: Chairman of the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB), Najam Sethi has said if Imran Khan accepts his invitation for the PSL3 final he would welcome the former cricketer himself.
During an interview with Saleem Safi on Saturday, he revealed that he has sent a handwritten letter to Imran Khan inviting him to the final.
The PCB chief said in his letter to the former cricket hero, he wrote "My dear Imran, please do come to the National Stadium."
He said he would open the car door for Imran Khan if he comes to the National Stadium to witness the match.
While answering a question he said : “I wanted Imran to apologize for leveling allegations against me pertaining to the election results...he is yet to do so."
Sethi also offered apologies to Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam (F) Leader Fazlur Rehman and Jamaat-e-Islami Chief Siraj-ul-Haq for not inviting them to the PSL final in Karachi.
Cricket unites Pakistan
Najam Sethi says the game of cricket has united the entire nation.
Responding to a question regarding spot-fixing, he said nobody can even think of indulging in such a crime following the action taken against the culprits after the second edition of the PSL.
Asked which team he would support in the final, the senior journalist said his heart supports one side while his mind favours the other.
Sarfraz's captaincy
Defending his decision to appoint Sarfraz Ahmed as captain of the Pakistan team, he said it was a good move and he also agrees with coach Mickey Arthur in bringing forward the young players.
Lauding the security measures for the PSL final, he said the arrangements are "top class".
He said there would be no chief guest in the final but he has extended invitation to the prime minister and the chief minister of Sindh.
