SIBERIA: Not giving in to her age, a 76-year-old woman from Russia skated across the world’s deepest lake, wearing a pair of skates from 1943.
A farmer by profession, Lyubov Morekhodova, braved extreme temperature when she slid across the Baikal Lake located in Siberia, when her cows rambled on the lake's frozen ice sheets.
Her stunt soon grabbed the attention of netizens who were amazed at the old woman’s energy level.
She is said to become an internet sensation overnight because of her courageous skating act.
“I’ve always been going long distances on skates,” she told. “I started skating when I was seven.”
Lyubov lives alone on the shores of Baikal since the death of her husband in 2011.
“We live a happy life here, me and my animals. In summer I get to see all my relatives, and in winters I am way too busy to get bored,” she shared.
