DUBAI: Skies in Dubai were searing colors of celebration to give a dazzling and vibrant welcome to the new Chinese year, with a glitzy dragon-themed show here at Burj Khalifa.
The tallest building in the world kick started the New Year with a flying dragon taking flight from the Great Wall of China, touching landmarks of Dubai, splattering at The Dubai Fountain before whirling up the Burj Khalifa and letting loose a gush of luminous pearls from the top of the world at an elevation of 828 meters.
The celebratory show was attended by the Chinese consul-general in Dubai, Li Lingbing, several superior diplomats and an approximate number of 250,000 Chinese expats who were enchanted to witness the multihued tribute to their culture.
Talking to a local newspaper, one of the Chinese residents in UAE, Hattie watching the show with her two-year-old daughter revealed: “"This was the best ever celebration of the Chinese New Year in Dubai. The attention given to the fine details of our culture was fantastic and bigger and better than ever.”
The astounding Chinese new year show at Burj Khalifa will continue till February 24 from 8 pm to 10 pm.
