NELSON: New Zealand beat the West Indies by 47 runs in the first Twenty20 at Saxton Oval in Nelson on Friday.
After being sent into bat, New Zealand made 187 for seven with Glenn Phillips scoring 56 and Colin Munro 53.
In reply, the West Indies in reply were all out for 147 in the 19th over, with Andre Fletcher making 27. New Zealand debutant Seth Rance took three for 30, and Tim Southee finished with three for 36.
