Bollywood’s biopic ‘Thackeray’ releases teaser trailer
Scriptwriter and Shiv Sena's Rajya Sabha lawmaker, Sanjay Raut said the teaser of the biopic, about the unparalleled leader of the masses, conveys that the film would prove popular with the mainstream audiences.
MUMBAI: The first teaser trailer of Bollywood movie ‘Thackeray’, the first biopic based on the late Bal Thackeray, was unveiled here on Thursday.
Balasaheb Thackeray was the founder-president of Hindu nationalist party Shiv Sena.
The brief clip depicts scenario from the two-phased riots which lashed out at Mumbai in December 1992 in the aftermath of the demolition of the Babri Mosque.

Speaking at the teaser launch, Bollywood megastar Amitabh Bachchan also praised the character in focus, saying a three-hour film will be too short to bring Thackeray's illustrious life on-screen.
Chief of Shiv Sena Uddhav Bal Keshav Thackeray, son of Bal Thackeray, was also present at the launching ceremony.
Raut, journalist and member of Parliament has penned down the life of this leader who is by and large recognized for his extremism, where the scripting consumed four years span for the historical movie which goes under direction by Abhijit Panse.
Reportedly shot in Marathi and Hindi, the movie will be open for worldwide release on January 23, 2019 after being dubbed into English and various other languages.
Renowned Bollywood actor Nawazuddin Siddiqui, who is playing the character of Bal Thackeray, could not attend the launching ceremony as he was busy in shooting in Mauritius.
Nawazuddin will also be starring in another historical biographical film ‘Manto’ as title character of well known Indo-Pakistan author Saadat Hasan Manto.
