LONDON: All flights were temporarily suspended at Manchester Airport as heavy fog and a "minor defect" on a runway kept planes grounded. British media reported on early Tuesday.
According to airport's official, essential repairs were being made to Runway One, while weather conditions meant flights were "unable to make use of Runway Two.
Runway One was reopened shortly after 17:00 GMT but delays were continuing.
The airport's online departure board showed morning flights to Geneva and Dublin had not left five hours after they were due to depart.
It is not known exactly how many flights have been affected, but the board shows a number to locations including the Isle of Man, Amsterdam, Luxembourg, Belfast and Aberdeen have been cancelled.
