Workers of a religious party continued their sit-in at Lahore’s Faisal Chowk for the fourth day on Wednesday two days after the Tehreek-e-Labbaik Ya Rasool Allah ended its protest at Islamabad’s Faizabad interchange following an agreement with the government.
The protesters in Lahore say they would continue their sit-in until their demands are met.
On the other hand, Punjab Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif has ordered release of activists of the religious party who were taken into custody during protests against the government.
Authorities at the Kot Lakhpat Jail are said to have received orders regarding release of 170 activists.
School, colleges and business centers in Lahore are open in Lahore after end of the sit-in in at Islamabad.
The protest was called off after Law Minister Zahid Hamid resigned from his ministry.
